MLTSSL Medium Long Term Strategic Skills List for Australian Skilled Migration

 

The Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) is a list of skilled occupations in Australia that are in demand over the long term. The list is regularly reviewed and updated based on changing economic and labour market conditions.

 

The occupations that appear on the MLTSSL are selected based on a range of factors:

 

  • Labour market demand: Occupations that are in high demand in Australia and have a shortage of qualified workers will typically be included on the MLTSSL.

 

  • Economic importance: Occupations that are considered important to the Australian economy such as those in the healthcare or technology sectors are on the MLTSSL List

 

  • Skill level: Occupations that require higher levels of education and experience such engineering or medical are more likely to be included on the MLTSSL.

 

  • Future growth potential: Occupations that are projected to experience significant growth in the future such as those in renewable energy or cybersecurity may be added to the MLTSSL.

 

Occupations listed on the MLTSSL are considered to be in high demand and are therefore more likely to be eligible for skilled migration programs in Australia.

 

Australia visa eligibility by being on the MLTSSL List

 

Occupations on the MLTSSL are eligible for these skilled visas

 

  • Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189)
  • Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
  • Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) (for occupations in certain regional areas)
  • Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) (for post-study work)
